Where does Joe Jonas live? These days, the “Cake by the Ocean” singer resides in a luxury apartment in Brooklyn, New York. But the singer’s first piece of real estate was a joint effort. A 19-year-old Jonas and his brothers, Nick and Kevin, bought a ranch in Westlake, Texas, in 2008—three years after forming their eponymous band, the Jonas Brothers. In between, he’s bought and sold several California properties, plus a dreamy Miami manse.
Read on to take a walk down Jonas’s real estate memory lane.
Texas ranch
In 2008, Jonas and his brothers-slash-bandmates purchased a $2.9 million ranch in the exclusive Vaquero Club community in Westlake, Texas, just days before kicking off their Burnin’ Up Tour. (Technically speaking, the boys gave their mother power of attorney to sign for the six-bedroom, six-and-a-half-bathroom property.) The Southwest Traditional–style home included a wood-beamed great room, a music room, a home theater, a game room, and a wet bar within its 7,360 square feet. Outdoors, there was a saltwater swimming pool, a fireplace, a gazebo, and a kitchen. The brothers ultimately sold the home in 2015 for an undisclosed amount; it had been listed for $2.75 million.
Solo LA starter house
Jonas bought the first place of his own for $2.6 million in May 2014. The 2,888-square-foot traditional-style mansion in West Hollywood was originally built in 1923; it still retained much of its charm but included modern upgrades, like stainless steel appliances, white subway-tile backsplashes in the kitchen, and marble-topped vanities in the bathrooms. Jonas changed his tune on the place less than a year later, however, and ultimately sold it for $2.9 million.
Hollywood Hills rental
Following the 2015 sale of his West Hollywood home, the musician decided to rent, staying at a $40,000-a-month Airbnb in the Hollywood Hills area. The Jeffrey Allsbrook–designed mansion was supermodern, with a reported 270-degree view of the city from its perch atop Runyon Canyon.
Sharman Oaks farmhouse
In February 2016, the DNCE front man gave up the renter lifestyle and spent $3.7 million on a brand-new modern farmhouse in Sherman Oaks. The 5,600-square-foot home, known as the Sutton House, included four bedrooms and six bathrooms. The singer put the farmhouse back on the market in August 2018, and it sold for $3.7 million in early 2019.
New York City condo
In 2018, Jonas and Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner bought a stylish condo in New York for $5.6 million. A year later, they got hitched in Las Vegas, followed by a larger wedding ceremony in the South of France. Their three-bedroom, three-bathroom Manhattan apartment measured 2,907 square feet and boasted custom-stained white oak floors, European oak doors, and a 1,450-square-foot terrace. The couple ultimately left NYC for the West Coast after they had their daughter, first listing the condo for $6.5 million in July 2020 before lowering the asking price to $5.9 million, but they still didn’t find a buyer. Jonas finally offloaded the dwelling in 2024 for $5.36 million, about a year after filing for divorce from Turner.
Encino mansion
Jonas and Turner, then newlyweds, bought a brand-new mansion in Encino for $14.1 million in 2019. The 15,000-square-foot property was designed by Jae Omar and had 10 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms between the main house and a guesthouse. Wood and stone materials lent an earthy, homey feel to the space. The pair listed the property for $16.75 million in June 2021, and it sold that September for $15.2 million. The buyer in that transaction was DJ Zedd, who sold the pad to singer Meghan Trainor three years later for $17.1 million.
Miami mansion
Jonas and Turner grabbed a piece of Miami real estate next, plunking down $11 million in 2021 for a modern waterfront mansion. The six-bedroom, nine-bedroom residence was inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright, marrying modern floor-to-ceiling glass with dark wood and stone and fun midcentury-inspired touches, including a lush indoor garden and a koi pond. Other design highlights include a salon with a 30-foot-high ceiling, a spacious primary suite with dual bathrooms, and an indoor-outdoor bar near the backyard swimming pool. The couple listed the dwelling just a year later, however, asking $17 million. It took about seven months until they found a buyer, who ultimately paid $15 million for the chic abode.
Brooklyn apartment
In 2024, just a couple of months after selling his previous NYC apartment, Jonas added a $6.7 million Brooklyn pad to his real estate portfolio. Located in the borough’s Dumbo neighborhood, the 2,700-square-foot unit is on the 26th floor of a high-end condominium building. The space hosts three bedrooms and four bathrooms, plus an open-plan living space overlooking the Manhattan Bridge.
