Sisters Leslie Martin and Kim Meardon are the Ms behind M + M Interior Design. For a client’s summer getaway in Union Pier, Michigan, Mia Rao Design leaned into a water and sky–inspired palette with Dellarobbia sofas and Geiger chairs.

One of the most influential figures in American design, Nate Berkus continues to innovate and set trends through his elevated, inviting interiors. Led by Berkus and partner Lauren Buxbaum Gordon, Nate Berkus Associates operates from offices in Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles, and works on residential and commercial projects around the world. From penthouses to lakeside retreats, Berkus and Gordon craft homes that feel luxurious and are designed to evolve over the years.

In a River North condo designed by Nicholas Moriarty Interiors, a Robert Motherwell painting takes center stage in the living area, which features a trio of Boffi sofas. In the adjacent dining space, Moriarty placed a Flos pendant light above a vintage table and chairs.

Every homeowner is different, so Nicholas Moriarty Interiors tailors the design process to each client and the way they think. Each project begins with a deep dive into the client’s lifestyle and story through written and verbal questionnaires and “visual listening activities”, resulting in expertly curated and personality-packed interiors. The multi-disciplinary firm focuses on full-scale interior design and renovation projects and offers everything from interior architectural consulting and space planning to art curation and custom furniture and casegood design. Since it was founded in 2008, Nicholas Moriarty Interiors has become known for its artful, deeply considered designs and counts celebrities, Fortune 500 execs, and artists among its clients and fans.

For a project on Chicago's North Shore, North Shore Nest helped their client make her dark home office something special. Designers Melinda Cahill and Suzanne Glavin coated the wood paneling with high-gloss blue paint and brought in layers of blues, pinks, neutrals, and raspberry tones for an overall light and airy feel.

In 2004, Melinda Cahill and Suzanne Glavin teamed up to found North Shore Nest, their Glenview-based residential interior design firm. In addition to the design studio, the company showcases its signature style at its shop, Park & Oak Collected, and at its cocktail lounge, The Parlour.

Paula Interiors focuses on helping clients create inviting, beautiful, and functional spaces. For the past 12 years, founder Paula Rodriguez has worked on a variety of projects, which include both residential and commercial properties. No matter the size, style, or complexity of design, Rodriguez’s clientele has always been most impressed by the personal experience that Paula Interiors provides. Rodriguez strongly believes that an interior designer should not have a specific style or look that is signature to their company. Instead, she believes in a style-discovery process, in which the client and designer build a vision collaboratively. Her objective with every project is to transform a space into an innovative room that meets the needs of her clients while still producing a wow factor each time they enter their newly designed space.

Adding much-needed interior architectural details such as ceiling beams, applied moldings, chunky baseboards, and jewelry-like door hardware, Randy Heller and her team created a serene and modern feeling throughout this renovated home.

Growing up with artist parents, Randy Heller’s eye for design was nurtured from a young age. After training with famed UK designer Kelly Hoppen, Heller returned to Chicago’s North Shore and founded Randy Heller Pure & Simple Interiors, a design firm with a mission to enhance their clients' lives through their living spaces. In a co-op apartment in Chicago’s Gold Coat area, Sarah Montgomery Interiors added character to the living room with wood paneling and a stone fireplace surround. A piece by artist hangs above the fireplace and the wood and suede chairs are by Brazilian architect Carlos Motta.

Operating out of a stylish Logan Square studio, Sarah Montgomery Interiors specializes in full-service interior design and renovations, transforming historic homes in Chicago and beyond. Elizabeth Mollen began her career working in the fashion industry in New York and Los Angeles, and in 2012, Mollen shifted to interiors, founding Stone Textile Studio. Mollen and her team bring a sense of fun to their spaces, incorporating vivid wall coverings and textiles, many of which are designed by the firm. Stone Textile Studio works on projects in the Chicago area and across the country, helping clients to infuse personality into their homes. Locals can also shop the firm’s collections of rugs, wallpaper, and textiles, as well as a curated mix of art and vintage pieces, at their Highland Park store, the Vault Creative.
