There are some new neighbors in the exclusive Quinta da Marinha residential
development on Portugal’s Cascais coast. Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez have purchased a sprawling mansion that will serve as a retreat for the soccer star and his family—eventually becoming their permanent home in Portugal. According to the Spanish magazine Semana, the home is set on three acres, and measures almost 54,000 square feet spread over two floors, with countless windows overlooking the Atlantic.

Given its waterfront location, it's no surprise that the house’s architecture emphasizes natural light, sweeping views, and outdoor living. The property includes two swimming pools (both indoor and outdoor), a gym, a spa, a screening room, and extensive landscaped gardens. The design combines contemporary architecture, privacy, and lush natural surroundings in one of the most sought-after locations on the Portuguese coast.

According to experts interviewed by Semana, the property is valued at around 25 million euros, a figure that would make it Portugal’s most expensive private home. That estimate is based not only on its size, but also its location in one of the most exclusive residential enclaves in the country, the quality of the materials used in the construction, and the home's many custom features. It was designed as a one-of-a-kind residence, making it difficult to compare it to other properties on the market and assign it a precise value.

Cascais, Portugal's paradise by the sea

It would make sense for Portugal's most expensive home to be located in Cascais, in one of the area’s most exclusive residential developments. In recent years, this former fishing village has emerged as destination known for its contemporary architecture and coastal lifestyle. Among the many factors bringing the gliterrati to Cascais are its proximity to Lisbon, its nature preserves, its many golf courses, and, the abundance of luxury residences. Ronaldo and Rodriguez were also likely drawn by the privacy that their new estate offers.

The couple’s new home embodies a trend in contemporary luxury: large properties that are equal parts status symbols and family retreats. The estate’s architecture integrates the home into the surrounding landscape, and guarantees privacy for its owners, two sought-after features in exclusive seaside enclaves like Quinta da Marinha, which has become a popular second-home destination.
